Project Details
Description
The EMOTION project aims to advance the development and deployment of automated vehicles worldwide. To achieve this, a comprehensive testing infrastructure and a centralized data repository are required to ensure the safe, efficient, and trustworthy integration of these vehicles into the transportation and mobility system. The EMOTION innovation lab expands the existing Digitrans testing environment and establishes a central database, information, and knowledge base where all data is stored according to industry standards. This database includes data from various stages of development, including during the operation and use of automated vehicles.
The project creates a center of expertise for the evaluation and validation of automated vehicles. The evaluation includes comparisons with other vehicles, compliance with standards, and reviewing the physical infrastructure for testing. Validation requires developing a methodology for validating automated vehicles, considering competency requirements for various use cases, checking the operational environment (ODD - Operational Design Domain [SAEJ3259]), identifying the competency requirements for vehicles, and establishing the criteria for meeting these requirements.
