Project Details
Description
The economical use of energy is a key requirement for the sustainable production of goods. The EU's goal of climate neutrality by 2050 can only be achieved by reducing energy consumption in all areas, including production. The expansion of renewable energy sources is crucial to achieving the energy transition. The EU's goal is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 55% by 2030 (Council of the European Union 2019). This expansion includes energy sources such as wind power, photovoltaics and hydropower. Furthermore, the increasing possibility of reusing materials in line with the circular economy plays an important role. In the future, these developments will lead to complex decision-making options in the energy management of manufacturing companies.
Through research in:
• the modelling and technical design of production processes,
• the simulation of production systems,
• the optimisation of process parameters,
• production planning and
• material selection and process properties
the project is laying the foundation for the design of energy-neutral production. The aim of the project is not to further develop the technical possibilities for generating renewable energy or energy storage systems, but to make these possibilities as usable as possible for manufacturing companies.
