"The AuMi research project explores the opportunities and challenges of establishing an autonomous micro-location in brick-and-mortar retail, addressing current issues such as high energy and labor costs, workforce shortages, and changing consumer behavior. The goal is to develop a future-ready retail concept that leverages modern technologies to connect physical and digital shopping experiences and benefits customers through automated store concepts without traditional sales staff.
Key areas of focus for ""AuMi Start"" include selecting the optimal location, defining an attractive service portfolio, and analyzing relevant legal frameworks. Additionally, the project examines necessary base infrastructure and potential adjustments eligible for funding. The consortium, consisting of eccovia, Mastercard, PayOne, and the Logistikum.RETAIL at the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria, is working on a business model to enable the economical operation of such micro-locations, incorporating forward-looking, staffless services."
