Die Bioinformatik Forschungsgruppe der FH OO erforscht und entwickelt Algorithmen zur Analyse von molekularbiologischen Daten. Dazu zählen unter anderem Massenspektrometriedaten, Mikroskopieaufnahmen von Zellen und DNA-Sequenzen. Die dafür entwickelten Programme werden verwendet, um die Ursachen von Erkrankungen zu entdecken sowie entsprechende Behandlungsmöglichkeiten zu entwickeln und um biologische Prozesse zu simulieren.
