Description
Research and development activities are considered great opportunities for the improvement and development of IT education within a university. Scientific staff members have to perform the balancing act between the different requirements of challenging research and high-quality teaching. Therefore, the intention of this workshop is on the one hand to give participants a platform to present the R&D strategies of their respective universities with focus on the benefit in education, and on the other hand to discuss the different approaches, their strengths and their weaknesses within a peer group. Participants are invited to contribute their presentations, experience reports and demonstrations. For example, at the UAS School of Informatics/Communications/Media professors, research associates, and students work together in several, primarily application oriented research projects. Relevant IT-topics from business, industry, science and society determine our R&D priorities. The primary goals of our research and development activities at the Research Center Hagenberg are practical research, the transfer of scientific knowledge from basic research to solutions of real-world problems of our partners on the one hand and to improved education topics for our students on the other, and the continuous expansion of a strong network of (inter-)national universities and research institutions. We try to implement a so-called Innovation Chain as an iterative and incremental process that passes through the four elements Education, R&D, Application and Transfer to generate benefit for our cooperation partners as well as for our students.Period | 14 Jun 2013 |
