Engineering in Austria - Innovative Strategies in Higher Education

Activity: Talk or presentationOral presentation

Description

This paper explores the Austrian engineering education landscape and illustrates innovative approaches to increasing the number of engineering graduates. The introduction of study preparatory programmes or part-time programmes for young mothers is an example of how the student population in the field of engineering can be increased and diversified. Innovative approaches like this increase the percentage of women in this traditionally male-dominated field and, at the same time provide lifelong-learning opportunities, help to satisfy the industry’s needs and thus contribute to long-term economic prosperity in the region.
