Description
As digital games become more pervasive, leaving the living room and entering the public arena, they traverse broader social contexts and acquire new meaning. Co-located gaming, i.e. the playing of games with others in the same physical space, has served to foster sociability since the earliest of guessing games, but pervasive technologies are greatly expanding on this potential. This talk will examine the social value of playing together and address some of the inherent challenges in creating games that employ new technologies to facilitate communication and collaboration.
