An Advanced Desorption Concept for Thermochemical Storage Materials

Activity: Talk or presentationOral presentation

Description

A concept of combined hot air and microwave heating is presented in order to de-hydrate sorption energy storage materials. Two type of material was selected for demonstration, zeolite 4A and composite materials containing AlSO4 salt hydrate embedded in a natural zeolite structure. The results show that high temperatures up to 200°C and higher can be reached but also precise temperature control of +/- 5K is possible to avoid thermal decomposition during salt hydrate – desorption. The operation concept was demonstrated for an open desorption concept with continuous material feeding.
