Towards Security and Privacy Assessment for Data Spaces: Methodology and Use Case in the Energy Domain

Publikation: KonferenzbeitragPapierBegutachtung

Abstract

With the increasing focus and development of data spaces in various domains to facilitate data sharing, not only are security and privacy essential, but also an approach to assess the compliance of a data space with the relevant security and privacy aspects. In this work, we propose an approach towards security and privacy assessment for data spaces that takes into consideration the different design principles along with their priority, given defined requirements as input. Then, we discuss how to calculate a score for each aspect as well as cumulative. We demonstrate the assessment approach by providing a use case for an energy data space infrastructure as an example to illustrate the steps. We show the intermediate results, including the input requirements mapped to security, sovereignty, trust, and transparency. Based on our estimated security protection rating from IEC 62443-2-2 for each requirement, a cumulative score is calculated.
