Abstract

Chile, with its diverse geography and climates, showcases a range of timber constructions that have adapted to the environment. From the arid north to the central
valley and the southern regions, Chilean timber architecture reflects the country's unique character. Examples include the wooden architecture of Iquique influenced by
English Victorian style and North American technology, the experimental and collaborative approach of Ciudad Abierta, the mining town of Sewell in the Andes, the
famous wooden churches of Chiloé, and the Estancias in Tierra de Fuego. These traditional practices have not only shaped the aesthetic character of contemporary
Chilean architecture but also contributed to the resilience and longevity of timber buildings in the country.
