Abstract

Cloud computing has presented an opportunity for organizations to leverage affordable, scalable, and agile technologies. However, even with the demonstrated value of cloud computing, individuals, universities and corporations have been hesitant to adopt such technologies. This research-in-progress provides an important exploration of the drivers and barriers of the broad organizational adoption of cloud computing. Specifically, the theory of Diffusion of Innovations (DoI) and the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) are applied and extended to better understand the adoption of cloud services. A combined multi-theoretical research model is developed aiming to explain both the attitude towards cloud adoption and actual cloud usage. Finally, directions for future research are suggested.
