Abstract
This paper deals with the simulation of skin effects in conducting materials in the time domain. The partial differential equations are discretized by a finite-difference method on a predefined grid resulting into an ordinary differential equation in time. Both equidistant and nonequidistant grids are compared and the accuracy of the models is analyzed. These considerations yield a simple a priori guess of the lower and upper bounds of the range of validity. Furthermore, the mathematical models are realized by macromodels that are compatible with SPICE2. The skin effect model can also be linked to models with a nonlinear or hysteretic B-H relation.
