Orchestration is addressing today’s requirements relating to flexibility, adaptability and transparency in attempts to reach successful collaboration and integration in supply chains (SCs). This research studies orchestration and identifies the theoretical development and anchoring of the concept in supply chain management (SCM) and SC collaboration literature. First, this paper theoretically analyses supply chain orchestration (SCO) from a perspective of SCM concepts, SC maturity models and theoretical lenses relevant in orchestration. Second, preliminary empirical findings contribute to scholarly discourse by scrutinizing SCO models in theory and practice as well as capture drivers for and success factors in SCO.
