Abstract
For mobile communication systems power efficiency is a very important issue. Especially for mobile user equipments (UE) a careful management and efficient use of the limited energy resources is mandatory. In fact, though, quite an amount of energy is wasted in todays UEs, as analog and digital frontend in communication systems are designed for worst case scenarios, meaning those are overengineered concerning e.g. amplifier linearity and filter slope steepnesses for most practical communication scenarios. Capturing the environmental transmission conditions and adapting the receiver architecture to the actual needs allows to save energy during the receiving process. We present a highly efficient approach for the implementation of such an architecture. This paper gives an overview on the basic properties of those approaches and discusses the constrained interior-point method for optimizing the filter design.
