Abstract

Inductors are one of the main components in power electronics systems. In order to reduce the time to market of such systems, a computer aided design tool for inductors was developed. This easy to use tool is able to predict the physical behaviour of inductors in operation and enables the designer to optimize all signicant design parameters in a short time. As a best practice design example, a PFC choke in a three-phase PV inverter is investigated. The principle design process and the relevant results are presented. The resulting optimized choke is compared to calorimeter measurements regarding losses.
