Measuring Attitudinal Change and Knowledge Transfer in a Game-based Climate Change Intervention

Publikation: Beitrag in Buch/Bericht/TagungsbandKonferenzbeitragBegutachtung

Abstract

This paper presents a visualization framework integrated into a game-based learning platform designed to teach climate change concepts and foster behavioral reflection. The system combines data gathered from serious games, quizzes and surveys with interactive visualizations like parallel coordinates, radar charts and stacked bar charts, to help educators assess knowledge transfer and attitudinal change. Evaluations with educators using the System Usability Scale and NASA Task Load Index indicate high usability and low cognitive load, while interviews with visualization experts revealed strengths and key areas of improvement. The dashboard supports both group-level trends and individual insights, contributing to a novel, user-centered approach to educational data visualization in climate change education.
