Abstract

This papers purpose is to describe how Supply Chain Management (SCM) interrelates with freight traffic volume and its resulting effects. The development of international SC networks is one of the main driving forces of freight transportation. The paper is based on a broad literature review and presents the findings of an empirical investigation in the exporting industry sector in Austria. These results are the basis for further research work in this field in order to develop a systematic approach mapping the interrelationships.
