Abstract

Three national road authorities have joined forces to commission a study project on ‘How can a digital twin sustainably enhance integration and service quality for road operators?’ The international team elaborates on an integration of key concepts in connected automated driving (like operational design domains and infrastructure-based support for automated driving) into an umbrella digital twin as a prototype on feasibility of advanced forms of digitalisation and information management for a homogenous traffic situation representation. ODD Aware Traffic Management is meant to foster productive operational uptake into distributed departments for real-time decision making. Rapid learning and sustainably preparing cooperative connected mobility on our streets nicely contribute to the conference theme ‘Smart and Sustainable Mobility for all’. Organizational complexity in implementing efficient and effective deployment requests unorthodox cooperation between organisations and commercial enterprises. The project DIGEST will discuss its intermediate results with a global stakeholder community at ITS Europe Congress 2022.
