N2 - The textile industry contributes significantly to global pollution due to its linear economic model. The transition to a circular economy, focusing on the reuse of textiles, can reduce these negative impacts. This paper analyzes the reverse logistics processes in the market for used textiles, focusing on the Austrian context. Unlike traditional retail models, where goods flow linearly from manufacturer to consumer, used fashion involves reverse logistics processes where items are returned, exchanged or resold. Managing the complexities of reverse logistics, including product returns, refurbishment, and redistribution, presents several new challenges. Based on expert interviews, the study identifies key process steps and challenges faced by different stakeholders in the collection, transport, sorting, storage and resale of used textiles. Detailed results and their implications for the promotion of a circular economy in the textile industry are presented.
